Well, since I couldn't sell the old Skidoo race motor, I bought a cheap rolling chassis from a retired drag racer in New York. It is VERY clean inside and out.
It has the small gas tank already mounted inside the shroud, a full picked track, and a Mach Z hood. I will post pics as the build comes together. Here is where I am starting from... Nice catch...thanks.
It was a back breaker lifting that motor in and out of the sled with no hoist and the sled sitting on the floor (no lift). The first time wasn't bad, the second time it was OK, and by the third time I was reaching for some tylenol. I enclosed the gauge cluster today with lightweight aluminum diamond plate. I pick up the windshield from the painters Tuesday AM...more pics to come. no problem.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Take it from me you don't want to mess with your back. I've had two surgeries already from herniated disks which have left me with weak legs and alot of numbness from the waist down. I made this up by buying a 2000lb winch on sale for $70... it's been great for lifting stuff Attached thumbnail(s) |

Neat idea.
I am thinking about doing something like that with my trailer to winch the quads and sleds up the ramp. Thanks Denny I just sold one of the extra hoods/windshields that came with the sled for $100 so now my investment in this project is down to $300 total and I still have more parts plus another lightweight fiberglass hood/ windshield from Wahl's brothers to sell. Stock skis and a pair of hi-flow mikuni fuel pumps are on e-bay right now. I am hoping to end up at the free mark-that is the best price of all!!!!!!!! Picked up the fiberglass windshield from the painters today.
Riveted it on and added the stickers. Here is the finished product. Waiting on the new seat cover and the clutch alignment tool. It wont be long now. Aftermarket seat cover came today.
The old one was the original from '96 and it was a mess. $100 so I am back up to $400 investment in the project. Here is the cover on the foam pan and the finished seat on the sled. The motor is in and aligned (I hope)
The torque arms are installed The clutches are in The carbs are on Two fuel pumps are installed The CDI box is wired in The temp guage is wired in What's left: My Team Bullet pipes are so big that the hood won't close so I need to find different pipes The Lectron slides need to be fattened out and installed with the throttle cable The fuel lines need to be attached to the carbs The 3/4" coolant hose with the quick collects need to be attached to the upper and lower flanges. The VDO tach needs to wired in once it arrives I need to get a clean-out stand I should be able to fire her up and head to the ice soon for jetting and clutching!! Why don't the pipes fit? I'm sure they can be cut and reformed or cut the hood! Not like you're making a trail rider.

The cans are HUGE!! (that sounds dirty)(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Since these were custom made pipes and dyno'ed with my new motor at 272 HP, I am hesitant to cut them up, unless it is to make them fit into the quad and say screw the chrome...I am not quite there yet but want that option. I bought a set of Dyno-port race pipes from a Mach Z lake racer...cheap. We can cut those up if we need to. Borr1s PS Show me your cans!
